Let me see you tootsie roll...

Hello friends! I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! We spent the weekend at my parents cabin soaking up the sun (when it was out) and spent time with the kids. It was nice and relaxing!

It is incredibly hard to stick to a diet though over holiday weekends- there are always lots of good eats around including sweets and such, which I am trying to avoid. I have no self-control. If something sugary and sweet appeals to my taste buds it is hard for me to stop. I have to force myself to stop eating even after I am full. It's not an easy thing to reel in. However, I have been able to keep it under control since June 5th. I have lost 7.3 lbs since that time by dieting and exercising. It feels to good to be losing! I hope I keep it up.

I have been going to Planet Fitness for the past couple of weeks. I have liked Planet Fitness since it moved in close to my house. There are a couple of things I have found though that puzzle me. For instance, why do they have tootsie rolls at the counter? Granted, tootsie rolls are not horribly bad for you since 2 small tootsies are 35 calories, 1 gram of fat and 10 grams of carbs. However, someone like me, for instance, would taste the chocolate and it would cause me to crave more sweets. I am sure there are other people out there like me, which made me wonder is this a strategic move by Planet Fitness to ensure people keep a membership? Or is this a clever way of making people feel empowered by saying no to the temptation? Or is it simply a low calorie treat to reward yourself after a good work-out? These are the thoughts that ran through my head at 5:40 am while working out on the elliptical machine. I will say though I do appreciate their "No judging" mantra. I don't think anyone at gyms should judge however, because I may not be fast and I may not have much endurance at this point, but I am doing more than I did before. And that matters.
